Mission Statement:

Our mission is to continue striving to secure the human rights and dignity of the 250 million SC/ST and underprivileged people in India.

We aim to achieve this through the educational, social, economic, and cultural development of these marginalized communities. We will act as a pressure group on the administration to ensure justice for the disadvantaged and to uphold the Constitution, both in spirit and in letter. Additionally, we seek to serve as an advocacy group for international human rights organizations, raising awareness of caste-based human rights violations.

We Change Lives & The World

We believe that we can save more lives with your support.

Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar’s clarion call was: Educate, Agitate, Organize. These three pillars guide the path toward emancipation, freedom, justice, equality, fraternity, and liberty, as guaranteed by the Indian Constitution.
AIM undertakes multifaceted projects based on these three pillars, focusing on:

Education

Dr. Ambedkar envisioned an education system in India that instills values of human dignity and justice. AIM undertakes a variety of educational projects, ranging from primary education to higher studies, and provides career guidance.

Healthcare

For centuries, Dalits have been ostracized from society and labeled as ‘untouchables.’ Over 20% of Dalits still lack access to safe drinking water.
The lack of education and poor sanitation contribute to the spread of fatal illnesses.

Give Education to the Most Deserving Students:

$4,500 of $50,000 raised

AIM collaborates with and provides financial assistance to numerous organizations in India. We also create multiple awareness programs, evening schools, classes, and build libraries.

Healthcare Projects

$1,500 of $20,000 raised

Dalits have the lowest healthcare utilization and outcomes. Their living conditions and occupations place them at high risk for disease exposure.
The Healthcare Fund helps those in need in a timely manner.

Atrocities Legal Defense Fund

$4,000 of $25,000 raised

Dalit rights are human rights. Some of the most heinous atrocities are committed against Dalits. They often lack the financial resources for adequate legal defense. The Atrocities Legal Defense Fund was created to support victims.

I was very inspired by the involvement of children in the events organized by Dr. Ambedkar International Mission. They spoke from heart, they spoke about equality. It made me think that we have to Dr. Ambedkar’s mission, his ideas worldwide. One of the things I have done with Dr. Ambedkar International Mission, is organizing a worldwide Zoom-a-thon to honor Dr. Ambedkar on his birthday.

Paul Divakar

Ambedkar International Mission USA and Canada Chapter is very strong. I have worked very closely with AIM’s founder president Mr. Raju Kamble with number of celebrations in Columbia. We are seeing discrimination based on caste in the USA. Blacks and Dalits are coming together in this mission.

Frequently asked questions

Q: What is ‘caste’?

A: Caste refers to a social system in which people are grouped into hierarchical categories based on birth, occupation, and social status. It has been prevalent in various societies, including India.

Q: Is caste discrimination a global problem?

A: At least 250 million people worldwide still face appalling and dehumanising discrimination based on caste and similar systems of inherited status, warned the United Nations expert on minority issues while presenting finding to the UN Human Rights Council.

Q: What keeps the caste hierarchy in place today?

A: The caste system persists due to historical, cultural, and social factors. It influences marriage, occupation, and social interactions, even in modern times

Q: Do Dalits have any protection from discrimination under USA law?

A: Currently, Dalits (formerly known as “untouchables”) do not have specific legal protection against caste-based discrimination in the USA. However, there are ongoing discussions about addressing this gap.

Q: What is the rate of Dalit atrocities in India?

A: The overall rate of total crime against Dalits in India is around 21.3%, which is staggering when the overall Dalit population is taken into consideration

Q: How to annihilate caste?

A: Dr. B. R. Ambedkar’s concept of “Annihilation of Caste” refers to the complete eradication of the caste system in India. Ambedkar proposes two primary solutions to abolish the caste system: inter-caste marriages and the destruction of religious scriptures, including the Vedas and Puranas. He argues that opposition to inter-caste marriages stems from a fear of losing social and political power.

Q: Does Indians still follow the caste system?

A: Yes, nearly all Indians today identify with a caste, regardless of their religion.

Q: What is the Atrocity act?

A: The Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989 was enacted by the Parliament of India to prevent atrocities and hate crimes against the scheduled castes and scheduled tribes.

Q: How can I change my caste?

A: Cast cannot be changed once applied. There is no provision for changing the Caste. The only way that people adopt is to change the religion. Dr. B. R. Ambedkar publicly converted to Buddhism on 14 October 1956.
